Why I Chose This Crystal

Of the small number of South African Smokey Lemurians I was fortunate enough to secure, this is one of the most extraordinary formations I've come across.

There is so much to explore within it. The depth of the Smokey colouring. The beautiful translucent windows that invite you to look right into the crystal. The incredibly pronounced striations and glyph-like markings across its surface.

What makes this piece feel particularly special is the sense that it has lived through different stages of growth, areas of recrystallisation, new crystals emerging from the original formation, delicate barnacle crystals alongside larger secondary growths. It feels like a crystal with an entire story written into it, quietly, over an unimaginable amount of time.

I genuinely don't know whether I'll be able to source these South African specimens again. That uncertainty makes each one feel even more precious to me.

WHAT IS SOUTH AFRICAN SMOKEY LEMURIAN QUARTZ?

Lemurian Quartz is traditionally associated with distinctive Quartz crystals discovered in Brazil, particularly those displaying horizontal growth striations.

Within Lemurian spiritual traditions, these markings are sometimes described as records or codes of ancient wisdom, believed to encourage spiritual insight and intuitive exploration.

Today, Quartz displaying similar characteristics is also being discovered in other parts of the world.

This newly discovered South African material combines Lemurian-style growth features with natural Smokey colouring and, in some specimens, extraordinary secondary crystal formations.

There is a beautiful belief within Lemurian spiritual traditions that these crystals continue to reveal themselves as humanity's consciousness evolves.

I find something particularly meaningful in that idea, especially when encountering discoveries from places not traditionally associated with Lemurian Quartz.
