Kundalini Yoga Classes in South Devon

These weekly Kundalini inspired yoga classes are held in Brixton, just outside Plymouth in South Devon. They offer a steady, grounded space to reconnect with yourself through breathwork, accessible movement and deep rest.

My teaching draws from Kundalini Yoga with a strong somatic influence. There is a natural crossover with gentle, repetitive movement, spinal work and pauses to notice what is shifting internally. It is less about pushing and more about sensing.

Held at Brixton Community Hall near Plymouth, these weekly classes blend Kundalini inspired breathwork and movement with somatic awareness. The focus is on regulating the nervous system, improving spinal mobility and creating a sense of calm strength in both body and mind.

This is not a fast paced fitness class. It is a practice rooted in awareness.

My teaching draws from Kundalini Yoga with a strong somatic influence. There is natural crossover with somatic movement practices, including gentle repetitive sequences, spinal work, breath awareness and intentional pauses to notice what is shifting internally. It is less about pushing and more about sensing.

Movements are held for short periods of time and many postures can be adapted for a chair, making these classes accessible to a wide range of ages and abilities. You are always encouraged to work at your own pace and listen to your body.

Each session includes:

Breathwork to regulate and steady your nervous system

Accessible Kundalini inspired movement

Simple mantra or focused awareness

Deep rest at the end of class

Eyes are closed for much of the practice. There are no physical adjustments. This is your space to move away from comparison and into your own experience.

Whether you are completely new to yoga or looking for a more nervous system aware approach, these Kundalini inspired somatic yoga classes in South Devon offer a supportive and welcoming environment.

What is Kundalini inspired yoga?

Kundalini Yoga has its roots in the more traditional teachings of yoga. At its heart, yoga means union. The integration of body, mind and spirit. It is not simply about flexibility or performance, but about awareness.

In these classes, we work with breath, simple repetitive movements known as kriyas and moments of stillness to support the nervous system, glandular system and internal organs. The aim is not to perfect a posture, but to create balance and steadiness from the inside out.

You may also hear the word somatic. Somatic simply means relating to the body. It is an approach that invites you to feel what is happening internally rather than focusing on how something looks externally. There is time to pause, notice and regulate.

This is not a dynamic flow class. It is a practice rooted in awareness, nervous system regulation and a holistic understanding of yoga.

Alongside traditional Kundalini elements, I gently weave in seasonal themes and reflections that relate to real life. The Wheel of the Year, transitions, energy levels and the natural rhythms we all move through. It is an integrative approach, grounded in authentic yoga teachings and adapted for modern life.
