Rare purple, lilac, gold and green labradorescence for intuition, protection and transformation

This Madagascan Labradorite freeform is an exceptional 696g statement piece with unusual purple and lilac labradorescence, interspersed with flashes of warm gold and green. The colour appears across both sides of the crystal, although one face has a considerably stronger flash than the other. Purple is one of the less commonly seen colours in Labradorite and this piece is particularly beautiful for the amount of soft violet and lilac colouring visible across its polished surface. Traditionally associated with intuition, energetic protection and transformation, Labradorite is particularly supportive during periods of change or when you want to strengthen your connection with your own inner guidance.

Why I Chose This Crystal

I love Labradorite. It was actually the first crystal I ever bought for the shop and I've had a bit of an obsession with it ever since. I work with it personally, I wear it and I have it around my home.

The colour of this piece is so unusual and beautiful. Purple Labradorite is much less commonly seen and this has the most beautiful lilac and violet flash running through it, alongside flashes of gold and green. It's a really special piece.

I'm also incredibly proud of how our Madagascan crystals are sourced. We work with people we've known for years who have direct relationships with miners and workshops there, ensuring people are paid fairly for their work. Our supplier has been working in Madagascar for more than 30 years and the pieces are individually selected rather than simply bought unseen in bulk. It costs more to source crystals this way, but the quality and knowing the people behind them are being treated properly really matters to me.

Why is Purple Flash Labradorite unusual?

Labradorite is famous for the optical phenomenon known as labradorescence, where light interacting with its internal mineral structure creates brilliant flashes of colour that appear to move as the crystal is turned.

Blue, green and gold are among the colours most frequently associated with Labradorite, while strong purple, violet and pink tones are less commonly encountered and are particularly sought after in high-quality specimens. Purple flash isn't a different variety of Labradorite, but an unusual expression of the same extraordinary optical phenomenon.

As with all Labradorite, the colour isn't simply sitting on the surface. Its appearance changes dramatically according to the direction and strength of the light and the angle from which the crystal is viewed.

Spiritual & Metaphysical Benefits

Labradorite is traditionally associated with energetic protection, intuition, spiritual awareness and transformation. It is often worked with as a protective crystal for the aura, helping to create stronger energetic boundaries while remaining open and connected.

Its relationship with the Third Eye and Crown Chakras also makes it a popular crystal for meditation, intuitive development and spiritual practice.

Mental & Emotional Healing

Labradorite can be particularly supportive during periods of change. Its energy is traditionally associated with trusting yourself when you cannot yet see exactly where something is leading and becoming more comfortable listening to your own instincts.

For anyone who tends to absorb the moods or expectations of other people, Labradorite is also traditionally used to support clearer energetic boundaries and a stronger sense of what belongs to you and what doesn't.

Physical Benefits

Within traditional crystal healing, Labradorite has been associated with supporting relaxation, balancing energy and easing feelings of physical tension or fatigue.

These are traditional crystal healing associations rather than medical claims and crystal healing should never replace appropriate professional healthcare.

Ways to Work With This Crystal

Place this Labradorite somewhere you can appreciate its changing colour as the natural light moves throughout the day.

Use it during meditation or intuitive work, particularly when exploring a decision or transition where you need to hear your own inner guidance more clearly.

It can also be placed in a room where you spend a lot of time if you would like to work with Labradorite's traditional protective and boundary-supporting qualities.

Energetic Properties

This is an exceptional polished Labradorite freeform with an unusually soft purple and lilac colour palette.

Across its flashier face, layers of violet, lilac and purple appear between the natural structure of the Labradorite, with warm golden and green labradorescence appearing as the piece is moved. There are also flashes of orange and deeper violet visible from particular angles.

The reverse also displays labradorescence, although the flash is stronger and more extensive on one side.

At 696g and approximately 111mm, this is a substantial freestanding piece and the combination of its size, polish and unusual purple colouring makes it particularly striking.

How to Work With This Crystal

Labradorite is a crystal I particularly like for those times when you're changing something but haven't necessarily worked out exactly what comes next.

Sit with the crystal during meditation or journalling and notice what comes up before immediately looking outside yourself for answers. You might ask what you already know about a situation that you've been ignoring or where you need a clearer boundary.

Because this is a substantial freestanding piece, it can also simply live somewhere you spend time regularly. A bedroom, meditation space, treatment room or workspace would all allow you to work with its energy without needing a formal crystal practice.

Labradorite is a completely natural crystal and may contain internal lines, inclusions, mineral markings and variations within its polished surface. Labradorescence changes considerably according to the direction and strength of the light and the angle from which the crystal is viewed. These characteristics are part of the natural beauty and individuality of Labradorite.
