This Labradorite Freeform from Madagascar has an unusual and quite beautiful flash, violet, pink and electric blue running through the stone alongside those warmer golden areas that appear almost like sunlight catching an edge. The colours follow the natural formations within the crystal, almost like little rivers of light moving through the stone, while areas of natural raw Labradorite on the reverse retain the original texture and darker grey mineral character. Traditionally associated with energetic protection, intuitive awareness and personal transformation, this is a meaningful piece for anyone navigating change, strengthening their boundaries or learning to trust their own inner guidance.
Why I Chose This Crystal
Oh, the colours in this one.
I've always loved Labradorite, but every now and again I find a piece with a flash that feels completely different from the usual blues and golds. This is one of them. That dusky purple running through the stone, with flashes of pink, violet and electric blue, and then those wonderful golden areas appearing almost like sunlight catching an edge. What I particularly love is the way the colours follow the natural formations within the crystal, almost like rivers of light moving alongside them rather than simply sitting on the surface.
And I love that it hasn't been fully polished. You can still see and feel something of the raw Labradorite on the reverse, its natural texture and darker grey mineral surfaces, which gives the piece a completely different character depending on which way you hold it.
Labradorite has always felt to me like a crystal about transformation, but not necessarily the enormous life-changing kind we tend to think of when we hear that word. Sometimes transformation is much quieter and more personal than that. Recognising that we've outgrown something. Learning to trust a feeling we've been quietly ignoring. Understanding that we don't need everyone else to agree with our decisions before we're allowed to make them.
What I love most about this piece is how well the crystal itself reflects those qualities. The colours have always been there, held within the stone. It simply takes the right light to reveal them. And I think that's a beautiful reminder that what we're capable of has always been there too, sometimes it just takes the right moment to bring it into view.

ENERGETIC PROPERTIES
This natural Madagascan Labradorite Freeform has an exceptional display of purple, pink, violet and electric-blue labradorescence.
The polished surface reveals beautiful colour transitions, with dusky purple and pink areas interrupted by brighter flashes of blue, turquoise and golden light.
One of its most distinctive features is the natural, irregular line running through the main polished face.
The iridescence follows this formation, creating an almost lightning-like effect, with brilliant blue and golden reflections appearing along its edges.
Fine natural lines are also visible within the mineral structure, adding depth and character to the polished surface.
The upper and outer areas retain more of the original raw Labradorite, creating a lovely contrast between the textured grey stone and the extraordinary colour revealed through polishing.
The reverse has a softer, more subdued appearance, with purple and blue tones becoming visible as the light changes.
Labradorite's remarkable optical effect is known as labradorescence. It occurs when light interacts with microscopic layers within the feldspar mineral, producing the flashes of colour for which Labradorite is so well known.
Purple and pink are particularly sought-after colours within Labradorite, making this an attractive specimen for anyone interested in unusual natural formations.
Energetically, I associate this piece with trusting what we know about ourselves.
There is something about the way the colours emerge from the darker stone that feels particularly appropriate for a crystal associated with transformation.
For me, it's a reminder that our strengths aren't always obvious.
Sometimes they develop through experience.
Sometimes they become clearer when circumstances change.
And sometimes we simply need to trust that they were there all along.
