Why I Chose This Crystal

The flash on this piece is absolutely beautiful, and it's that combination of gold and blue that caught my attention first.

The golden areas have an almost metallic appearance with these incredible fine lines running through the stone. And then there's that electric-blue flash curving through the crystal, appearing and disappearing as you move the piece. One moment you're looking at rich golden reflections and then a slight shift reveals the most extraordinary blue. Labradorite always does this, but this piece does it particularly well.

What I particularly love is the contrast between the two sides. The polished face allows you to see all that colour and internal structure in remarkable detail, and then you turn it over and there's a completely different character entirely. Natural texture, darker mineral areas, little flashes of blue and green appearing across the rougher surface. It's almost like having two crystals in one.

Labradorite has always been a crystal I associate with transformation. Those periods when we know something is changing even if we don't yet understand what the next chapter will look like. And I think there's something particularly meaningful about that when you look at this piece specifically.
