These beautiful Malachite Cats are hand carved and polished in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, each one displaying the extraordinary natural banding, swirls and concentric patterns that make Malachite so distinctive. Their rich shades of green move from deep forest tones through to brighter bands and every cat has been chosen for the beauty and character of its natural markings. Malachite is traditionally associated with transformation, protection and emotional healing, making the cat a particularly lovely form for this powerful crystal.

Why I Chose This Crystal

The markings on these are just beautiful. Every one has those wonderful natural Malachite swirls or stripes and because of the way each cat has been carved, the patterns move completely differently across every piece.

I also really love Malachite in this form. There is something about the independence and instinct of the cat that works beautifully with a crystal traditionally associated with transformation, protection and trusting yourself through periods of change. They are lovely little carvings but they still have that unmistakably powerful Malachite energy.

What makes natural Malachite so distinctive?

Malachite is a copper carbonate mineral famous for its extraordinary green colour and naturally occurring bands, rings and swirling patterns. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is one of the world's most important sources of high-quality Malachite and Congolese material is particularly loved for the richness and variety of its patterning.

No two pieces of natural Malachite will ever have exactly the same markings. The bands visible across these cats formed naturally within the mineral long before the stone was carved, which means every carving reveals a completely individual section of the original material.

These cats have been hand carved and polished by a very small family-run mining community in the Congo. The process is not one of mass-produced, machine-perfect carving and you may occasionally see a tiny nick, uneven area or variation in the polish or carving. These are not considered damage. They are part of the handmade nature of the pieces and something I feel is important to be transparent about.

These are particularly beautifully marked pieces of natural Congolese Malachite. Each cat has its own combination of stripes, sweeping curves, concentric circles and deeper areas of green, with some of the patterns wrapping right around the carving.

I chose these because every one has something interesting happening within the stone. Your cat will be intuitively chosen for you and the exact colouring and patterning will naturally vary.

These are individually hand carved and polished rather than produced to achieve absolute uniformity. Small variations in shape, carving and polish and occasional tiny natural or hand-finished imperfections are therefore to be expected and are part of the character of these pieces rather than damage.

Malachite can be a powerful crystal to work with when something in your life is changing or you know that something needs to.

You might place your cat beside your journal and reflect on where you need stronger boundaries, what you are ready to release or where you need to trust your own instincts more deeply.
