Why I Chose This Crystal

There's something about ancient Egyptian symbolism that I've always found fascinating, and Anubis is one of those figures whose meaning runs much deeper than you might initially expect.

Often depicted as a jackal-headed god, Anubis was associated with the protection of the dead, embalming and guiding souls through the transition into the afterlife. And I think there's something particularly meaningful about what that actually represents, protection during times of uncertainty, guidance when we're moving from one chapter into another, and the understanding that transformation is an inevitable part of existence rather than something to fear or resist.

What drew me to these particular carvings was the colour of the Lapis Lazuli. It's such a rich, extraordinary blue, with those golden flecks of Pyrite running through the stone, catching the light and adding a completely different dimension. The deep blue has an almost celestial quality alongside that warmth. And then the carving itself carries such presence, the detail in the headdress and markings gives each piece a genuine sense of character.

I've always associated Lapis Lazuli with wisdom, truth and learning to recognise our own inner knowing. And that feels like a particularly appropriate pairing for Anubis.
