This Labradorite Ganesha has been individually hand carved from natural Labradorite ethically sourced from Madagascar, with beautiful flashes of blue, green, gold and purple appearing as the crystal catches the light. Ganesha is one of the most recognised deities within Hindu tradition and is associated with wisdom, prosperity, new beginnings and the removal of obstacles. Combined with Labradorite, traditionally worked with for transformation, protection and intuition, these small carvings make particularly meaningful companions during periods of change or when beginning something new.

Why I Chose This Crystal

I love Labradorite. It was actually the first crystal I ever bought for the shop and I've had a bit of an obsession with it ever since. I work with it personally, I wear it and I have it around my home. That incredible flash of colour appearing from such a dark stone never stops being beautiful to me.

I thought these little Ganesha carvings were really special. There's something about combining Labradorite's energy of transformation and protection with Ganesha's symbolism around overcoming obstacles and new beginnings that just makes sense.

I'm also incredibly proud of how our Madagascan crystals are sourced. We work with people we've known for years who have direct relationships with small mines and the communities around them, helping to ensure the people involved are paid fairly for their work. Much of the crystal work in Madagascar is still done by hand because the sophisticated machinery and equipment available elsewhere simply isn't accessible to many of these communities. That makes the detail in a little carving like this even more special to me.

Our Madagascan crystals are individually selected rather than simply bought unseen in bulk. It costs more to source crystals this way but knowing where they have come from, the people behind them and that they are being paid fairly really matters to me.

What does Ganesha symbolise?

Ganesha is one of the most widely recognised and revered deities within Hinduism. Traditionally depicted with the head of an elephant, he is associated with wisdom, prosperity and new beginnings and is widely known as the remover of obstacles.

Ganesha is often honoured at the beginning of a new undertaking, journey or chapter and his symbolism has therefore become closely connected with moving forwards and overcoming challenges.

Paired with Labradorite, a crystal traditionally associated with transformation, intuition and energetic protection, this makes a particularly meaningful piece for periods of transition and new beginnings.

Energetic Properties

These little Ganesha carvings are beautifully detailed, particularly considering they're only around 52mm tall.

Each has been carved from natural Madagascan Labradorite and the flash varies completely from piece to piece. Across the ones pictured you can see gorgeous blues, greens, golds and purples, with some appearing much darker until they're moved through the light.

This is exactly what I love about Labradorite. At one angle it can look quite understated and then suddenly the most incredible colour appears.

Each Ganesha has a flat back so it can be laid flat for display or placed on an altar. Please note that these carvings do not stand independently, although you may be able to carefully prop yours against another object if you prefer to display it upright.

How to Work With This Crystal

You could place your Labradorite Ganesha somewhere connected with something new you're beginning or an obstacle you're currently working through.

During meditation, hold the carving and consider what feels as though it's standing between you and your next step. Rather than focusing only on removing the obstacle, you might explore what it's showing you and what you need in order to move forwards.

They're also a lovely size for an altar or sacred space and the flat back means they can be safely laid down when not being held.
