This large Labradorite Freeform from Madagascar displays beautiful multi-coloured labradorescence across both sides, with flashes of electric blue, turquoise and gold alongside more unusual touches of purple. Labradorite is traditionally associated with energetic protection, intuition and transformation, helping us remain connected to ourselves while moving through periods of change. It is particularly supportive for anyone who feels sensitive to the energy around them or is learning to trust their own intuition more deeply.

Why I Chose This Crystal

I love Labradorite. It was actually the first crystal I ever bought for the shop and I've had a bit of an obsession with it ever since. I work with it personally, I wear it and I have it around my home. That incredible flash of colour appearing from such a dark stone never stops being beautiful to me.

I'm also really proud of the Labradorite we stock. We source ours through people we have known and worked with for years, who work directly in Madagascar and make sure the people involved are paid fairly. It costs more to source Labradorite this way, but the quality is exceptional and knowing the people behind these crystals are being treated properly really matters to me.

This particular piece has beautiful flash on both sides, with incredible blues and golds meeting those rarer touches of purple. It was an easy one for me to choose.

What is Labradorite?

Labradorite is a feldspar mineral famous for the optical phenomenon known as labradorescence. Light interacts with microscopic layers within the crystal and is reflected back as flashes of colour which can appear blue, green, turquoise, gold, yellow, orange and, more rarely, purple or pink.

The flash isn't a coating or treatment. It is created by the internal structure of the natural crystal, which is why Labradorite can appear relatively dark from one angle and suddenly illuminate with extraordinary colour when moved through the light.

Within crystal healing traditions, Labradorite is known as a stone of transformation, intuition and energetic protection. It is particularly associated with strengthening our connection to our own inner guidance while helping protect the energy field from external influences.

Energetic Properties

This is a substantial, beautifully polished piece of Madagascan Labradorite weighing almost a kilogram. What makes it particularly special is the amount and variety of labradorescence running through it.

Across both sides, deep grey Labradorite suddenly comes alive with electric blue, turquoise, green and glowing gold. There are also subtle areas of purple within the flash, which are less commonly seen than the classic blue and green tones.

The different colours meet and move through one another across the crystal, creating an almost sunset-like or Northern Lights effect. Because both sides flash, there isn't simply one 'display face'. Turning the crystal reveals a completely different pattern and combination of colours.

For me, that hidden colour is part of the magic of Labradorite. It reminds us that just because we can't see something yet doesn't mean it isn't there. Sometimes we simply need to change our perspective, trust what we're sensing and allow things to reveal themselves in their own time.

How to Work With This Crystal

Place your Labradorite somewhere you can see and interact with it regularly. Because this is such a substantial piece, it would make a beautiful energetic anchor for a meditation space, altar or somewhere you practise Reiki or other intuitive work.

When you're moving through uncertainty or change, sit with the crystal and notice how differently it appears depending on where the light falls. Use this as a reminder that your current perspective isn't necessarily the whole picture.
