Why I Chose This Crystal

I love Labradorite. It was actually the first crystal I ever bought for the shop and I've had a bit of an obsession with it ever since. I work with it personally, I wear it and I have it around my home. That incredible flash of colour appearing from such a dark stone never stops being beautiful to me.

I'm also really proud of the Labradorite we stock. We source ours through people we have known and worked with for years, who work directly in Madagascar and make sure the people involved are paid fairly. It costs more to source Labradorite this way, but the quality is exceptional and knowing the people behind these crystals are being treated properly really matters to me.

This particular piece is just beautiful. The flash moves across almost every surface, with incredible golds meeting really deep blues as you turn it in the light. I also love how tactile it is. It's smooth, weighty and feels lovely held between both hands, making it a piece I would genuinely choose to work with in meditation as much as I would display it.

What is Labradorite used for?

Labradorite is a feldspar mineral known for its incredible optical effect called labradorescence, where flashes of colour appear as light interacts with layers within the crystal. Within crystal healing traditions, Labradorite is associated with energetic protection, intuition, spiritual awareness and transformation. It is often chosen during periods of change or uncertainty and by those developing their intuitive or spiritual practice. Its protective qualities also make it particularly popular with people who feel sensitive to the energy and emotions around them.

This is an exceptional piece of Madagascan Labradorite with strong labradorescence across both sides and continuing around its different polished surfaces.

Glowing gold and green-gold dominate much of the flash before giving way to incredibly deep electric blue. Rather than having one small area of colour or a single display face, the flash continues to reveal itself as the crystal is turned.

At 595g, it also has a lovely weight and presence without being too large to pick up and work with. The finish is beautifully smooth and tactile, making this a Labradorite that feels as lovely in the hands as it looks on display.
