Why I Chose This Crystal

I absolutely love Amethyst. I always have. It has such a calming, reassuring energy and it's incredibly easy to work with, whether you're completely new to crystals or have worked with them for years.

I particularly love really high-grade Brazilian Amethyst and these spheres are genuinely beautiful examples. Amethyst is available almost everywhere, but there is such a difference when you see and hold a really high-quality piece. The depth and variation of the purple, the clarity, the translucency and the way the light moves through the crystal are completely different. These have beautiful natural colour zoning, internal veils and rainbows and you can find yourself turning them around in your hands discovering something different each time. They're mesmerising.

I also love that they don't all look the same. Some have deeper areas of purple while others have clearer Quartz with concentrated areas of Amethyst running through them. That natural variation is part of what makes them so special and every sphere completely unique.

Energetically, Amethyst is one of my favourite crystals for calming an overactive mind, creating a sense of protection and helping you reconnect with your intuition. And for me, when you're working with a really beautiful high-grade piece like this, there is something about the experience of holding it that feels different too. You can appreciate the quality visually, but you can feel it as well.

Why does Amethyst have different shades of purple?

Amethyst is the purple variety of Quartz and its colour develops naturally through trace amounts of iron within the crystal combined with natural irradiation during its formation. The colour isn't necessarily distributed evenly throughout the Quartz, which means natural Amethyst can contain different depths and concentrations of purple within the same crystal.

This is known as colour zoning. In some spheres you may see rich purple areas alongside much paler or clearer Quartz, while others have a more evenly distributed purple colour. These variations are completely natural and can create beautiful bands, clouds, concentrated purple areas and almost eye-like formations within the polished sphere.

Rather than being imperfections, these natural variations are part of what makes every Amethyst sphere individual.

Across the collection you will find rich purple tones, beautiful translucency, internal veils and fascinating natural colour zoning. Some spheres have a more consistent purple colour while others contain areas of much paler Quartz alongside concentrated purple Amethyst.

Occasionally this zoning creates particularly striking formations, including bands, clouds and almost eye-like areas of purple held within clearer Quartz. These aren't artificially created effects. They are part of the natural formation of the crystal and one of the things that makes these spheres so beautiful.

Because these are natural crystals, depth of colour alone isn't how I judge their quality. Clarity, translucency, internal formations and the overall beauty and energy of the individual sphere are all part of what I look for when choosing them.

How to Work With This Crystal

Amethyst is one of the easiest crystals to incorporate into everyday life.

Place your sphere somewhere you naturally spend time and allow it to become a visual reminder to pause. You might keep it beside your bed, in your meditation space or somewhere in your home where you want to encourage a calmer atmosphere.
