Fish Tail Selenite is a beautiful natural formation of Selenite from Morocco, recognised by its distinctive layered, fan-like crystal growth. Why I Chose This Crystal

I love Selenite and use it all the time but these are completely different from the polished bowls, plates and towers we normally have in the shop. I chose them because they're Selenite in a much more natural form and you can really see how beautifully the crystal has grown.

Some of the formations open out almost like wings or a fish tail, which is where the name comes from. I can completely understand why they're sometimes associated with angel wings too.

Energetically, I love them for those times when you want to clear things out, quieten some of the noise and reconnect with yourself. They're beautiful pieces to keep somewhere you meditate or simply within a space where you'd like the energy to feel a little calmer and clearer.

What is Fish Tail Selenite?

Fish Tail Selenite is a naturally occurring form of gypsum with distinctive bladed or fan-like crystal formations. Rather than being carved into the fish tail shape, the structure develops naturally as the mineral grows.

The name comes from the way the overlapping crystals can resemble the tail of a fish. Some formations are also described as angel wing Selenite because of their spreading, feather-like appearance.

These natural structures mean that no two pieces will ever be exactly alike, with variations in shape, thickness, layering, translucency and crystalline detail.

Selenite should always be kept dry. It is an exceptionally soft mineral and water can damage its surface and structure.

Our Fish Tail Selenite is priced according to weight. As these are completely natural formations, there can be considerable variation in their proportions even between pieces of a similar weight. Some are chunkier while others are longer and finer and each will have its own individual crystalline structure.

As we have a larger collection of these pieces, it isn't practical to photograph every individual formation. The photographs are representative of the quality and character you can expect and your crystal may differ in shape from those pictured. Every piece is individually checked and selected by us before being offered for sale.

Selenite is exceptionally soft and its natural Fish Tail formations are particularly delicate. Small surface marks, natural fibres, areas of cleavage and occasional flaking are characteristic of the mineral and its formation. Please handle your crystal carefully and always keep it dry.
