These Cobaltoan Calcite Spheres are something really special. Cobaltoan Calcite is a rare cobalt-bearing variety of Calcite, recognised for its beautiful natural pink colouring. I've previously only been able to offer this crystal in its raw form, so I was really excited to find these polished spheres. Each one reveals an incredible mixture of vivid pink, softer blush and cream tones with contrasting darker mineral inclusions and some have natural drusy pockets and little crystal caves remaining within the sphere.

Why I Chose This Crystal

I've only ever had Cobaltoan Calcite in its raw form before, so being able to offer it as a sphere feels really special. I love that polishing it hasn't taken away all of its natural character either. You still have the little drusy pockets, caves, mineral inclusions and changes in texture running through some of the pieces.

Energetically, Cobaltoan Calcite is a crystal I would choose when something around the heart needs a little care. It has that connection with love and compassion but for me it goes deeper into emotional healing, forgiveness and learning to offer yourself the same kindness you so readily give to other people.

What is Cobaltoan Calcite?

Cobaltoan Calcite is a cobalt-bearing variety of Calcite. Its distinctive pink to purple colouring occurs when cobalt substitutes for some of the calcium within the Calcite crystal structure.

Material from the Democratic Republic of the Congo is particularly sought after for its rich pink colouring and association with the region's cobalt and copper mineral deposits. Polished spheres are a beautiful way of seeing the variations within the material, particularly where areas of Calcite, contrasting minerals and natural crystalline pockets occur together.

Within crystal healing traditions, Cobaltoan Calcite is particularly associated with the Heart Chakra, emotional healing, compassion, forgiveness and self-love.
