This substantial Celestite Geode from Madagascar weighs almost 1.9kg and opens into a deep cavity filled with beautiful blue crystals. Larger chunky Celestite points sit amongst smaller sparkling formations, creating wonderful depth and catching the light throughout the geode. Celestite is traditionally associated with peace, emotional calm, gentle communication and spiritual connection, making it particularly supportive when life feels busy or overwhelming and you want to create a calmer space around you.

Why I Chose This Crystal

The depth of colour inside this one is absolutely beautiful. It has some of the deepest blue Celestite of the pieces I've chosen, with these lovely chunky crystals disappearing right into the cavity and lots of smaller points around them that make it incredibly sparkly.

I also love how substantial it feels. At almost 1.9kg it's a proper statement geode and it freestands on its side, so you can display it with that beautiful crystal-filled cavity facing outwards.

I'm incredibly proud of how our Madagascan crystals are sourced. We work with people we've known for years who have direct relationships with miners and workshops there, ensuring people are paid fairly for their work. Our supplier has been working in Madagascar for more than 30 years and the pieces are individually selected rather than simply bought unseen in bulk. It costs more to source crystals this way, but the quality and knowing the people behind them are being treated properly really matters to me.

How does Celestite form?

Celestite, also known as Celestine, is a naturally occurring mineral composed primarily of strontium sulphate. Madagascan Celestite is particularly known for forming beautiful blue crystals within cavities and nodules in sedimentary rock.

Over immense periods of geological time, mineral-rich fluids move through these cavities and Celestite crystals gradually develop into the available space. This creates the wonderful geode formations Madagascar is so well known for, where the rough sedimentary exterior surrounds an interior filled with blue crystals.

The softer, loose sedimentary material surrounding our Celestite is cleaned back, leaving the firmer matrix around the crystal formation. This reduces the loose, flaky material often found on Celestite geodes and allows the underlying structure and condition of the specimen to be seen more clearly.

This is an exceptional Madagascan Celestite geode with particularly deep blue colouring and a wonderfully substantial natural formation.

The large open cavity reveals layers of chunky, well-defined Celestite crystals, with some impressive individual points surrounded by smaller sparkling formations. The depth of the cavity allows you to see crystals continuing further inside, giving the whole specimen a wonderful sense of dimension rather than the crystals simply sitting across the surface.

The contrast between the pale natural outer matrix and those deeper blue crystals inside is particularly striking.

The softer sedimentary material has also been cleaned back, leaving the more stable surrounding matrix. This gives the specimen a solid, substantial feel and makes it easier to see and assess the underlying structure of the geode.

At 1.89kg this is a proper statement specimen. It freestands on its side, allowing the crystal-filled cavity to face forwards without the need for a separate stand.

How to Work With This Crystal

This is the sort of Celestite I would give a permanent place in the home. Position it somewhere you want to consciously create a calmer atmosphere and allow its size and presence to become part of that space.

For meditation, sit with the open cavity facing towards you and allow your attention to move from the larger blue points into the smaller crystals deeper inside. You don't need to force your mind to become quiet. Simply use the crystal as somewhere to return your attention whenever you notice yourself becoming caught up in your thoughts.

You can also work with Celestite when communication feels difficult. Sit beside it for a few minutes before speaking or writing and give yourself enough space to separate what you're feeling in the moment from what you actually want to communicate.

Celestite is naturally quite a delicate mineral. Although the surrounding matrix of this specimen has been cleaned back and feels substantial, the Celestite crystals themselves should still be handled carefully. Avoid dropping or knocking the geode and do not immerse it in water. Small amounts of natural matrix or tiny crystal particles can occasionally loosen during handling, which is normal for this type of specimen.
