This beautiful Celestite Geode from Madagascar has an almost perfectly rounded natural formation, opening into a cavity of soft blue Celestite crystals. Larger defined points sit amongst smaller sparkling formations, with a beautiful natural rainbow visible within one of the prominent central crystals. Celestite is traditionally associated with peace, emotional calm, gentle communication and spiritual connection, making it a lovely crystal for creating a quieter, more peaceful atmosphere in the home.

Why I Chose This Crystal

I absolutely love the shape of this one. It's almost a perfect little round geode and it stands beautifully, so you can look straight into all of those blue crystals inside.

There's also a gorgeous rainbow in one of the larger central points which really caught my attention. I love finding rainbows in crystals anyway, but tucked inside this little Celestite geode it feels particularly special.

I'm incredibly proud of how our Madagascan crystals are sourced. We work with people we've known for years who have direct relationships with miners and workshops there, ensuring people are paid fairly for their work. Our supplier has been working in Madagascar for more than 30 years and the pieces are individually selected rather than simply bought unseen in bulk. It costs more to source crystals this way, but the quality and knowing the people behind them are being treated properly really matters to me.

How does Celestite form?

Celestite, also known as Celestine, is a naturally occurring mineral composed primarily of strontium sulphate. Madagascan Celestite is particularly known for forming beautiful pale blue crystals within cavities and nodules in sedimentary rock.

Over immense periods of geological time, mineral-rich fluids move through these cavities and Celestite crystals gradually grow into the available space. This creates the wonderful geode formations we see today, where an unassuming outer matrix can conceal a cavity filled with blue crystals.

The softer, loose sedimentary material surrounding our Celestite is cleaned back, leaving the more stable matrix around the crystals. As well as presenting the Celestite beautifully, this allows the natural structure and condition of each specimen to be seen more clearly.

This is such a beautifully formed Madagascan Celestite geode. Its naturally rounded shape creates an almost complete little crystal cave, filled with soft blue Celestite points.

There is a lovely combination of larger, more defined crystals and smaller sparkling formations, giving the cavity plenty of depth and texture. One of the larger central points also holds a beautiful natural rainbow, revealed as the light catches the crystal from the right angle.

At approximately 70mm wide and 500g, it feels wonderfully chunky and substantial despite its compact size. It also stands naturally, allowing the crystal-filled centre and that lovely rounded formation to be displayed without needing a separate stand.

How to Work With This Crystal

Place your Celestite somewhere you want to consciously create a calmer atmosphere. Its compact size makes this one particularly easy to keep beside your bed, on a desk, altar or in a quiet corner where you meditate or practise Reiki.

For a simple meditation, allow your attention to rest inside the geode. Notice the different crystal formations, the changes in blue and the rainbow within the larger point. Each time your thoughts wander, gently bring your attention back to what you can see.

You can also sit with Celestite before a difficult conversation or when your mind feels particularly busy, using those few quiet moments to settle before deciding what you actually need.

Celestite is naturally quite a delicate mineral. Handle your geode carefully, avoid dropping or knocking it and do not immerse it in water. Small amounts of natural matrix or tiny crystal particles can occasionally loosen during handling, which is normal for this type of specimen.
