This beautiful Celestite Geode from Madagascar is filled with pale blue crystals, combining larger defined points with hundreds of tiny sparkling formations. Celestite is traditionally associated with peace, emotional calm, gentle communication and spiritual connection, making it particularly supportive when life feels busy or overwhelming and you want to create a calmer space around you.

Why I Chose This Crystal

This one has such an ethereal feel. The Celestite is a beautiful pale, icy blue and there are so many tiny sparkling crystal faces surrounding the larger points. It catches the light everywhere you turn it and has this almost frosted appearance that I absolutely love.

I also really like the contrast between the larger crystals and all of those tiny formations growing around them. There's so much going on within a relatively compact geode and at just over half a kilo it still feels beautifully substantial.

I'm incredibly proud of how our Madagascan crystals are sourced. We work with people we've known for years who have direct relationships with miners and workshops there, ensuring people are paid fairly for their work. Our supplier has been working in Madagascar for more than 30 years and the pieces are individually selected rather than simply bought unseen in bulk. It costs more to source crystals this way, but the quality and knowing the people behind them are being treated properly really matters to me.

How does Celestite form?

Celestite, also known as Celestine, is a naturally occurring mineral composed primarily of strontium sulphate. Madagascan Celestite is particularly known for its beautiful blue crystals which can form within cavities and nodules in sedimentary rock.

Over immense periods of geological time, mineral-rich fluids move through these cavities and Celestite crystals gradually grow into the available space. This is what creates the wonderful contrast between the rough natural matrix on the outside and the sparkling blue crystal formations revealed within.

The softer, loose sedimentary material surrounding our Celestite is cleaned back, leaving the more stable matrix around the crystals. As well as presenting the Celestite beautifully, this makes it easier to see the natural structure and condition of each specimen.

This Madagascan Celestite has an incredibly delicate, almost ethereal appearance. Its pale icy-blue colour is combined with an abundance of tiny crystal faces which catch the light and make the entire specimen sparkle.

Amongst these smaller formations are several larger, beautifully defined Celestite crystals, giving the geode wonderful variation and depth. Rather than being dominated by only a few large points, there is something to discover across almost the entire crystal surface.

The surrounding sedimentary matrix has been cleaned back, revealing the more stable structure beneath while retaining the natural contrast between the rough exterior and the blue Celestite growing within.

At 547g it is a substantial natural specimen while remaining an easy size to display on a bedside table, shelf, altar or within a meditation space.

How to Work With This Crystal

Place your Celestite somewhere you would like to consciously create a calmer atmosphere. You don't necessarily need a complicated ritual. It can simply become a reminder to slow down, soften your breathing and give yourself a little more space.

For meditation, sit with the geode in front of you and allow your attention to move across the different crystal formations. Notice the larger points, then the tiny sparkling crystals around them, gently bringing your attention back whenever your thoughts wander.

Celestite is naturally quite a delicate mineral. Handle your geode carefully, avoid dropping or knocking it and do not immerse it in water. Small amounts of natural matrix or tiny crystal particles can occasionally loosen during handling, which is normal for this type of specimen.
