Black Obsidian Witch Carving

Natural Black Obsidian witch carving for protection, grounding, boundaries and transformation

These wonderfully characterful Black Obsidian Witches are carved from natural Mexican Obsidian, with beautifully detailed faces, pointed hats and tiny broomsticks. Black Obsidian is traditionally associated with protection, grounding, energetic boundaries and releasing what we no longer need, making these little witches particularly meaningful for anyone drawn to the symbolism of protection, intuition and transformation.

Why I Chose This Crystal

I absolutely love these little witches. There's so much character in the carving, from their pointed hats and expressive faces to the tiny broomsticks they're holding.

There's also something rather perfect about combining the witch with Black Obsidian. Traditionally associated with protection, strong boundaries and releasing what no longer serves us, it feels especially meaningful during the darker half of the year and around Samhain.

What is Black Obsidian used for?

Black Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass formed when silica-rich lava cools rapidly. It has been worked with across different cultures for thousands of years and is traditionally associated with protection, grounding, truth and energetic clearing.

Many people are drawn to Black Obsidian when they want to strengthen their boundaries, explore what they are ready to release or feel more grounded during periods of change and transformation.

Spiritual & Metaphysical Benefits

Black Obsidian is traditionally considered a powerful protective and grounding crystal. It is associated with clearing unwanted energy, strengthening energetic boundaries and helping us remain connected to the Earth during spiritual or emotional work.

Mental & Emotional Healing

Black Obsidian is often worked with when exploring patterns, emotions or situations that are ready to be released. Its energy is traditionally associated with truth and self-awareness, encouraging us to recognise what is no longer right for us and establish clearer boundaries.

Physical Benefits

Within traditional crystal healing practices, Black Obsidian has been associated with grounding, energetic balance and releasing tension held within the body.

Energetic Properties

These little witches have been carved from natural Black Obsidian from Mexico, with wonderful detailing throughout the face, clothing, pointed hat and broomstick.

Black Obsidian has a naturally deep, almost mirror-black appearance when polished, allowing the details of the carving to emerge as the surface catches the light.

Each witch is individually carved from natural stone, so there will be subtle differences between pieces. Your witch will be intuitively chosen for you from those available.

How to Work With This Crystal

Black Obsidian feels particularly suited to the darker half of the year, when nature itself begins to turn inward and we may find ourselves considering what we're ready to release.

Place your witch somewhere meaningful as a symbol of protection and strong boundaries or incorporate her into meditation, intention setting or seasonal ritual work.

She also makes a wonderfully playful addition to an autumn or Samhain display while retaining the deeper symbolism traditionally associated with Black Obsidian.
