Why I Chose This Crystal

These are such beautiful pieces of Amethyst and I love how different each one is. Some have those deeper purple tones we immediately associate with Amethyst, while others are much clearer with softer lavender colour, beautiful internal detail and, in some pieces, gorgeous natural rainbows.

The 12-sided Vogel shape makes them even more interesting. There's something very intentional about the precision of the faceting and double termination, and combined with Amethyst's traditional connection with intuition, meditation and spiritual awareness, they feel particularly suited to anyone wanting to explore crystals beyond simply displaying or carrying them.

What is a Vogel crystal?

The Vogel-style crystal takes its name from Marcel Vogel, an IBM research scientist who became known for his work and theories around quartz crystals and their potential interaction with energy and consciousness.

Modern Vogel-style crystals are precisely faceted, double-terminated crystal tools inspired by his work. Different cuts and numbers of facets are now available, with these particular Amethyst Vogels featuring 12 sides.

Each of these 12-sided Amethyst Vogels is completely individual. Colour ranges from deeper, more saturated purple through softer lavender and beautifully translucent areas, with natural zoning, veils, inclusions and internal features visible within the crystal.

Some pieces also contain beautiful natural rainbows, created where light interacts with internal fractures within the Quartz.

The precision-cut facets allow light to travel through the Amethyst in completely different ways as the crystal is moved, revealing details that may not always be visible in a still photograph.

How to Work With This Crystal
