Moon & Earth Ring Size Guide
Find Your Perfect Ring Size
Choosing a ring online can feel a little uncertain, especially if you don't already know your ring size. The good news is that it's much easier than you might think.
This guide will help you measure your finger or an existing ring from home, understand UK ring sizes and choose the size that feels most comfortable.
Whether you're treating yourself or buying a meaningful crystal ring as a gift, I hope this guide helps you order with confidence.
Method 1: Measure Your Finger
This is the easiest method if you don't already own a ring that fits.
You will need:
• A thin strip of paper or a piece of string
• A pen
• A ruler measuring in millimetres
Step 1
Wrap the paper or string comfortably around the finger you wish to wear your ring on.
Step 2
Mark where the two ends meet.
Step 3
Lay the paper flat and measure the length in millimetres.
This measurement is your finger circumference.
Now simply compare your measurement with the chart below.
Method 2: Measure a Ring You Already Own
If you already have a ring that fits comfortably on the same finger, this can often be the most accurate method.
Lay the ring on a flat surface and measure the inside diameter from one inside edge to the other, making sure not to include the metal itself.
Compare the inside diameter with the chart below.

Helpful Tips for Measuring
For the most accurate measurement:
• Measure your finger in the evening when it is naturally at its largest.
• Avoid measuring when your hands are cold, as fingers naturally become smaller.
• If your hands are very warm, your fingers may swell slightly.
• Remember that your dominant hand is often a little larger than your other hand.
• If your measurement falls between two sizes, choosing the larger size is usually the most comfortable option.
Which Finger Are You Buying For?
A ring that fits perfectly on your right hand may not fit your left, so always measure the finger you intend to wear your new crystal ring on.
Buying a Crystal Ring as a Gift
If you're choosing a ring for someone special and you're unsure of their size, there are a few simple options.
If they already wear rings, you may be able to discreetly measure one they wear on the correct finger.
If you're still unsure, an adjustable crystal ring may be the perfect choice, allowing them to enjoy their gift while achieving a comfortable fit.
A Note About Crystal Rings
Many of the crystal rings at Moon & Earth are handmade using natural gemstones. This means every piece is unique and slight variations are part of what makes them so special.
Where a ring is adjustable, this will always be clearly stated in the product description.
For fixed-size rings, the exact UK ring size is shown on each product listing.
Frequently Asked Questions
How tight should a ring feel?
A well-fitting ring should slide on comfortably and come off with a gentle twist. It shouldn't feel painfully tight, nor should it spin freely or feel as though it could fall off.
What if I'm between sizes?
For wider rings or if you're between sizes, I generally recommend choosing the larger size for a more comfortable fit.
Do fingers change size?
Yes. Temperature, exercise, hydration, time of day and even the seasons can all affect finger size slightly. This is completely normal.
Can I resize crystal rings?
Some sterling silver rings can be resized by a professional jeweller, although this depends on the design and the gemstone setting. Adjustable rings should only be adjusted gently and within their intended range.
Why does my crystal ring turn or swivel on my finger?
This is completely normal, particularly with rings featuring larger or heavier natural gemstones.
Unlike a plain band, a crystal ring has more weight sitting above your finger. As you move your hand throughout the day, gravity can naturally cause the stone to rotate slightly. This doesn't necessarily mean your ring is too large.
A well-fitting ring should slide on comfortably, resist gently when being removed and feel secure on your finger, even if the stone occasionally turns. If the ring slips off easily or feels very loose, then you may wish to consider a smaller size.
Our Promise to You
I want you to feel confident when choosing your crystal jewellery online.
If your ring isn't quite the right fit, you're welcome to return it for an exchange or refund, provided it is returned in the same condition it arrived in, unworn and with all original packaging.
For adjustable rings, please take care not to stretch or bend the band out of shape when trying it on. Once an adjustable ring has been significantly altered from its original shape, I'm unable to accept it back for return.
I hope this guide helps you choose your ring with confidence and makes shopping for crystal jewellery online that little bit easier.
