When a crystal arrives in your hands, it has already been on a long journey. From being mined deep within the Earth to being handled by suppliers, packed, shipped, and stored, each stone passes through many processes and many hands. Along the way, it can absorb energetic imprints, just as we do when we move through the world.
That’s why, before any crystal leaves Moon & Earth, we take great care to cleanse and Reiki charge it (we also smudge it with smoke or incense too). This is part of what makes our crystals feel different, and why so many of our customers notice the vibrational quality the moment they hold them.

What Reiki Charging Really Means
Reiki is universal life force energy. As a Reiki practitioner, my role is simply to act as a conduit, a clear channel, so that this energy can flow through and restore balance.
I often describe it like a pipe: life force energy is always flowing through us all, but over time the pipe can become clogged with layers of stress, trauma, or unprocessed experiences. When you are attuned to Reiki, it’s like clearing that pipe so the flow can move more freely. The clearer the channel, the more powerfully Reiki can be felt.
This is the same for crystals. Reiki doesn’t just “charge” them, it clears away those layers of energy picked up along their journey, returning them to their pure, natural state.
Why We Still Encourage You to Cleanse Your Crystals
When you receive your crystal, the Reiki energy hasn’t been “removed” it’s imprinted. But we do encourage you to cleanse and charge your crystals at home. Why? Because this refreshes them, aligns them with your own energy, and anchors them into your space.
Think of it like opening a window to let fresh air in. You can’t undo what is intrinsically natural, a crystal’s true state is pure, just as our true state is peace, joy, and love. Cleansing is simply a way of returning both ourselves and our crystals back to that natural state, again and again.
A Weaving of Practices
For me, Reiki sits alongside other practices like Kundalini Yoga, working with crystals, and daily rituals. These are the ways I keep my own “pipe” clear, my energy flowing, and my connection to source strong. But Reiki is just one path. There are many others, and the beauty lies in finding the practices that resonate with you.
Ultimately, all of these modalities share the same intention: to gently clear the layers that build up over time and bring us back home to ourselves, to our natural essence, and to source.
