The Power of Working with the Moon Cycles

The Power of Working with the Moon Cycles

Working with the moon cycles has been a game-changer for me. Ironically, this way of living has given me more freedom, abundance, and happiness – exactly what I was striving for when I burnt myself out. There was a time when I constantly pushed through life without pausing, and it led to burnout. I was always striving, always moving forward without taking a moment to just be. Learning to work with the moon’s phases changed everything – it gave me permission to slow down, reflect, and honour my own rhythms.

Even though I don’t have a physical cycle anymore, I still feel deeply connected to the natural cycles as a woman. The moon has become a guide for me, reminding me that life isn’t just about pushing through – it’s about flowing with the natural ebb and flow of energy. Tuning into the moon helps me stay aligned with my own energy levels and prevents me from overextending myself.

By consciously aligning with the moon’s cycles, I create sacred moments each month to pause, reflect, and realign. It’s an invitation to break free from mindlessly ploughing on and instead honour how far I’ve come, acknowledge where I am, and set intentions for where I’m heading. It’s about tuning into myself and noticing how the energy within mirrors the energy above.

The Phases of the Moon and Their Meanings

New Moon – A Time to Set Intentions The new moon marks the beginning of the lunar cycle. It’s a time of new beginnings, planting seeds, and setting intentions. This is the perfect phase to sit with your journal, write down your dreams, and visualise what you want to manifest. Crystals that support new intentions, such as Moonstone or Clear Quartz, can amplify your vision and help you ground your dreams into reality.

Waxing Crescent – Building Energy and Momentum As the moon starts to grow in the sky, our intentions begin to take shape. This is a time of growth, action, and commitment. I use Carnelian or Sunstone during this phase to keep my energy vibrant and my motivation strong as I work towards my goals.

First Quarter – Facing Challenges and Taking Action The first quarter moon is all about action and overcoming obstacles. It’s when resistance might appear, but it’s also the time to push through with courage and determination. Tiger’s Eye and Labradorite help me stay grounded while maintaining focus on my path.

Waxing Gibbous – Reflection and Fine-Tuning As the moon becomes almost full, it’s a great opportunity to reassess and fine-tune your intentions. Take some time to check in with yourself: Are you on track? Do you need to make adjustments? Journalling during this phase with the support of Amethyst or Fluorite can help bring clarity and insight.

Full Moon – Celebration, Reflection, and Release The full moon is the pinnacle of the lunar cycle – a powerful time of illumination and revelation. This is when we gather in my monthly workshop to work with the energy of the full moon, using the crystal of the month and guided breathwork to release what no longer serves us and celebrate our progress. The energy of the full moon can sometimes feel intense, but it’s an opportunity to let go, recharge, and realign with our soul’s purpose.

Waning Gibbous – Gratitude and Reflection After the intensity of the full moon, the waning gibbous invites us to slow down and express gratitude for what has been revealed and released. It’s a wonderful time to reflect on what you’ve learned and nurture yourself with calming practices. Rose Quartz or Pink Opal can help soften any residual emotions and bring in a sense of self-love and acceptance.

Last Quarter – Letting Go and Realignment As the moon begins to wane, it’s time to shed what no longer aligns with your path. This phase calls for honest reflection and a willingness to let go of habits or thought patterns that hold you back. Smoky Quartz and Black Tourmaline are grounding allies during this phase, helping you to stay centred and clear.

Waning Crescent – Rest and Introspection Finally, as the cycle nears its end, the waning crescent is a time to retreat and recharge. It’s a phase of deep rest and introspection – a sacred pause before the new moon begins the journey once more. Sit quietly with your breath, allow yourself to simply be, and honour all you’ve moved through. Selenite or Lepidolite can support this gentle phase with soothing, peaceful energy.

Join Me in Honouring the Moon’s Energy Every full moon, I host a special ‘Working with Crystals’ workshop where we embrace the energy of the month. It’s a beautiful space to come together, breathe, journal, and align with the energy that’s moving through us. The moon’s wisdom reminds us to flow, to pause, to celebrate, and to release. Join me and honour your journey with the support of community, ritual, and nature’s gifts.

See you under the next Full Moon,

Katie xx
