This Amethyst Aura cut base freeform from Brazil is an incredible statement piece weighing over 1.7kg. At its centre is a deep natural cavity lined with sparkling Amethyst druzy, surrounded by Quartz and natural matrix. The surface has undergone the aura process, creating luminous flashes of blue, aqua, lilac, silver and soft gold that shift as the light moves across it. Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm, intuition and spiritual awareness, while the aura treatment is believed to bring an additional quality of uplifting, high-vibrational energy.

Why I Chose This Crystal

I absolutely love the contrast in this piece. You still have so much of the raw Amethyst formation and natural matrix visible, then this incredible iridescent aura across the surface and a sparkling crystal cavity running through the centre.

It's also a really substantial piece at over 1.7kg. It has so much presence and the colours change constantly as you move around it, which is exactly what I love about Aura crystals.

What is Amethyst Aura?

Amethyst Aura begins with natural Amethyst which is then bonded with a very fine layer of metal through a specialist vapour deposition process. This creates the iridescent surface without removing the underlying natural crystal formation. Aura Amethyst is therefore a treated natural crystal rather than an entirely natural, untreated Amethyst, and I think it's important to be completely transparent about that process. Vapour deposition is also how other commercially available Aura crystals achieve their characteristic metallic, rainbow-like surface.

Within crystal healing, Amethyst Aura is believed to combine the traditional calming, intuitive and spiritually supportive qualities of Amethyst with the uplifting and expansive qualities associated with Aura crystals.

A large sparkling druzy cavity runs through the centre with natural Amethyst and Quartz crystal growth creating depth inside the piece. Areas of natural matrix remain exposed alongside the polished and Aura-treated surfaces, giving it a wonderful contrast between raw mineral formation and luminous iridescence.

The aura shifts through icy blue, turquoise, lilac, silver, pale gold and flashes of rainbow colour depending on the direction and strength of the light.
